1. Who we are

2. Scope of this policy

This policy applies to the pepeAR Camera Kit experience presented on event devices, including Apple iPhones mounted on stands, and to the pepeAR privacy and legal web pages. It does not replace the privacy notices of Apple, Snap Inc., Snapchat, an event venue, or any destination selected by a guest when sharing a video.

3. Information and permissions used by pepeAR

Camera images

With the guest’s or device operator’s permission, pepeAR accesses the selected camera to show a live view and apply augmented-reality effects. The live camera stream is processed on the event device through Snap Camera Kit. We do not intentionally upload the raw camera stream to our own servers.

Some Camera Kit Lenses may locate features such as a face, eyes, nose, hands, or body position on the device so that an effect can be placed correctly. pepeAR does not use this feature tracking to identify a person and does not create or retain a persistent facial template or biometric identity record.

Generated photos and videos

When a guest records a souvenir video or takes a photo, the media is generated in the browser on the event device and is temporarily held in device memory for preview. The temporary result is cleared when the experience is ended, reset, refreshed, or automatically prepared for the next guest. We do not retain a copy on our own servers under the current version of the experience.

If a guest chooses Save, Share, or AirDrop, the device operating system transfers or stores the media at the guest’s direction. The selected recipient or destination may process the media under its own privacy terms. We do not receive AirDrop recipient details.

Microphone, location and photo library

The current production scope records video without microphone audio and does not request location. pepeAR does not browse the guest’s photo library. If we later introduce audio, location, server upload, or media-library features, we will update this policy and request the relevant permission before use.

Device and operational information

To operate and secure the experience, pepeAR may process technical information such as browser and operating-system type, app release identifier, display and camera capabilities, selected camera mode, pseudonymous session identifiers, Lens aliases, feature events, timestamps, error codes, and performance or reliability information. Our application is designed to remove raw media, camera labels, raw Lens identifiers, API tokens, and similar sensitive values from operational event reports.

Website and hosting logs

The provider hosting the pepeAR site or these legal pages may receive standard web-request information such as IP address, user agent, requested URL, date and time, and security logs. The hosting provider processes that information under its own terms and our service agreement with it.

4. Snap Camera Kit and public Lens links

pepeAR uses Snap Camera Kit to download approved Lens assets and render augmented-reality effects. Snap may process de-identified usage, product-interaction, crash, diagnostic, and performance information in connection with Camera Kit. Snap’s processing is described in the Snap Privacy Policy and applicable Camera Kit terms.

pepeAR may also display a QR code or link to a public Lens page on Snapchat. Opening or scanning that link leaves the pepeAR Camera Kit experience and is governed by Snapchat’s terms, age requirements, and privacy policy. The public Lens is not imported into our Camera Kit Lens Group merely because we display the link.

5. Why we process information

• to provide the requested live AR effect and create a guest-selected souvenir;
• to operate camera, Lens, recording, save, share, and session-reset functions;
• to keep the public device reliable, secure, and ready for the next guest;
• to diagnose errors, measure performance, prevent misuse, and improve later versions;
• to comply with legal, safety, and contractual obligations.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, the basis may be performance of the service requested by the guest, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the experience, consent for device permissions, and compliance with law. The exact basis may vary by jurisdiction.

6. When information is shared

We may disclose limited information only as needed to:

• Snap Inc. for Camera Kit and Snapchat services;
• our website, infrastructure, security, and approved observability providers;
• the recipient or service selected by a guest through Share or AirDrop;
• event operators acting on our documented instructions;
• authorities or other parties when required by law, or to protect rights, safety, and security.

We do not sell guest photos or videos and do not use them for targeted advertising.

7. Retention

• Live camera frames are processed for the active experience and are not retained by us as media files.
• Temporary photo and video results are cleared from the experience at session end, reset, refresh, or the public-device timeout.
• Files deliberately saved or transferred by a guest remain under the control of the guest and selected destination.
• Redacted operational logs are retained for no longer than 30 days, unless a longer period is needed for security, legal claims, or compliance.
• Hosting and Snap retention periods are governed by the relevant provider terms.

8. International processing

Snap and our approved technology providers may process information in countries other than the country where the event takes place. Where required, we use contractual and other safeguards appropriate to the relevant jurisdiction.

9. Children and young guests

At events in China, a guest under 13 may use pepeAR only after a parent or legal guardian has been informed about the camera, AR, recording, temporary preview, and save/share functions, has provided consent before the session, remains present, and directs the guest’s use with event-staff supervision. External Snapchat QR codes or links are not shown to or made available for scanning by guests under 13. Saving, sharing, or AirDrop for a guest under 13 may occur only at the parent’s or guardian’s direction and only to a device the parent or guardian controls or approves.

The current service is not offered to users under 13 in the United States, and the U13 setting in the Snap Developer Portal remains disabled. If the service scope changes, we will update the Portal configuration, product flow, notices, consent process, and legal documents before serving that audience. If we learn that a child’s information was handled inconsistently with this policy, please contact us so that we can take appropriate action.

10. Security

We use technical and organizational measures intended to protect the experience and operational information, including HTTPS, restricted configuration access, redaction of sensitive event fields, bounded logs, and automatic clearing of results on public devices. No system is completely secure, and guests should transfer media only to a device they control or trust.

11. Your choices and rights

A guest may choose not to start the experience, deny camera access, stop a recording, discard a result, or avoid saving and sharing. Depending on local law, individuals may also have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or obtain information about personal data we control. Contact us using the email above. We may need to verify the request and may not hold identifiable data about a guest when media remains only on the event device.

12. Changes

We may update this policy when the experience, providers, or legal requirements change. We will publish the new date on this page. Material changes to media upload, audio, location, identification, sharing, or retention will be reflected before the changed feature is made available.

在中国境内活动中，13 岁以下访客仅可在监护人事先知情并明确同意、全程陪同以及现场工作人员监督下使用。13 岁以下访客不展示或扫描外部 Snapchat QR Code；保存、分享或 AirDrop 只能由监护人决定并发送到监护人控制或确认的设备。当前服务不向美国 13 岁以下用户提供，Snap Developer Portal 的 U13 设置保持关闭。
